Holland based company DesiYUP organized an Artist Networking Meet for Indie-musicians 18 October 2019 at JW Marriott in Mumbai India. The musicians who attended the Artist Meet event gave an impromptu performance and showcased the beauty and diversity of music.
The Roots of Indian Music
Indian classical music is the roots of all Indian music and remains an essential part of all other Indian musical genres. Thus, DesiYUP organizes not only cross-over, fusion and folk concerts, but also Indian classical music concerts to familiarize the Dutch society with the Indian sound, instruments, forms and styles. In general, music can communicate to a greater number of individuals and over greater distances than language. Making music together or listening to music encourages in building a much better society with each other. Sitar player Dhruv Bedi and ghazal vocalist Gayatri Ashokan gave their perspective on the power of music and how it can transform lives.
Connecting with Indian artists
“The idea behind this artist meet is to connect with Indian musicians. The only way to connect with musicians these days is through social media, but meeting people in person creates a much stronger bond and a better understanding. I want to understand the artists perspective on creating their own music content. And at the same time this artist meet brings talented Indie-musicians together under one roof. In the hope that musicians see each other as colleague’s rather than competitors,”

DesiYUP Participates in High-Profile Trade Mission to India
In May 2019 the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited India to discus the bilateral relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in October 2019 King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited India to give a follow-up to this mission to strengthen the bound between the two democratic countries. DesiYUP is one of the 140 companies who participated in this Dutch trade mission, this time Mahesvari Autar visited New Delhi, Cochin and Mumbai.
“DesiYUP is the only cultural organization in these trade missions that focuses on the soft power of India. I believe that Indian music and cultural elements such as traditional dance forms, Yoga, Ayurveda and meaningful films play a key role in creating cultural awareness. With the help of cultural diplomacy we can establish, revive, and strengthen bilateral relations and mutual understanding between The Netherlands and India.
