Felix Room

Classic Indian music and dance can be heard at LaLaLand in the “Felix Room”, a glass dome at Ruigoord. The Felix Room is dedicated to the curator of ethnomusicology and “the father of Indian music in the Netherlands” Felix van Lamsweerde (1934-2021). Among other things, Van Lamsweerde organized concerts of Indian musicians in the Netherlands such as Ravi Shankar from the 1950s in the last century and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Van Lamsweerde was invaluable in establishing cultural connections between India and the Netherlands. His daughter Lalita van Lamsweerde – de Goederen, together with Noreen van Holstein, are the creators of LaLaLand-the Magic of India.

DesiYUP will also participate during the first edition of LaLaLand. On the 8th of July the children’s book ‘Radha’s first concert’, written by Mahesvari Autar and illustrated by Alissa Lubrano will be available at the Felix Room.
