Every Summer, I look forward to that one precious window of time: the re-energizing holiday break. It’s more than just a pause from planning events, producing audio-visual or written stories or simply answering a stream of emails. It’s my chance to step away, breathe deeply, and refuel my creative energy. I exchanged my phone and laptop for a pile of books and allowed myself to fully slow down. If reading is also a part of your lifestyle then ‘The Golden House’ by Salman Rushdie, ‘Valmiki’s Women’ by Anand Neelakantan and ‘This Books Kills’ by Ravena Guron are highly recommended.
I spent time in nature, savored unhurried conversations, and reflected on the many meaningful moments DesiYUP has created over the years. These quiet days reminded me why I started this journey: to offer events that inspire, connect us to our cultural roots, and create a sense of belonging.
And now, with my mind refreshed and heart full, I’m ready to step into the next concert season. In less than 3 weeks time we open the season with a gracious sitar recital by sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun, 13th of September, at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Music that will stabilize your being.
Our other upcoming programs as part of Endless India Festival will feature a vibrant variety of events, from intimate Divali High Chai networking event, to large-scale concerts featuring the Jugal Bandi by Ankita Joshi and Krishna Bongane and Vidya Vox for the very first time.
For me, these music performances are more than storytelling, heritage, and communities coming together. It’s an invitation to connect with something timeless within ourselves. So, here’s to another season of melodies that inspire, moments that unite, and memories that last far beyond the final note.
With Love,
Mahesvari
