An ode to the best romantic classics of the Hindi Cinema by international performers. The second edition of Hindi Cinema Classics at the Luxor Theater will be a promising musical spectacle. Enjoy nostalgic classics of the Indian Hindi Cinema. Especially for this impressive music program, the British singer songwriter and entertainer Navin Kundra shares stage with the Indian pop princess and one-woman band Vasuda Sharma. In addition, standup comedian Rayen Panday sings some romantic duets with the Indian singer songwriter Vasuda.

This most promising Indian classical concert features India’s finest musicians and two living legends Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. The two phenomenal icons of Hindustani classical music will be sharing the stage in the Netherlands for the first time together.
Chaurasia is known for his enchanting folk instrument bansuri (bamboo flute) and Sharma is the master of the string instrument santoor (a melodic string instrument with Persian lineage). Fifty years ago they made one of the great fusion albums “Call of the Valley” (1967). To see the two maestro’s live together time will be a magical experience.

Indian vocalist Nirali Kartik was the campaign face of the interfaith Festival Sacred Songs. This festival brought together all faiths through their vocal traditions. The festival showcased a bouquet that brings the best (international) artists who represent the beauty of their spiritual music in a powerful way. As the final act for the Holland-India Music Festival, DesiYUP organized a double bill concert with Vasuda Sharma and Shammi Pithia. A total of 3 hours of pure enjoyment with two talented and creative artists. Our DesiYUP audience was served a plethora of Indian Classical, crossover, Indipop, Bollywood and modern world music.

World Music Band Maati Baani (meaning: language of the Earth) have created a unique platform to collaborate with musicians from different parts of the world. On the 21st of October they performed together with Indian, Dutch and Surinamese artists in front of a diverse crowd. In an atmosphere of love, happiness and togetherness, people were given a chance to musically taste different parts of the world. With the Dutch artists Jesse Faber and Bart de Kater, the Indian artist Mooralla Marwada, Maati Baani (Nirali Kartik and Kartik Shah) gave us another level of India World Fusion.

The Opening Gala of the Holland India Festival 2016 was held on the 30th of October in the Zuiderstrandtheater in The Hague. Shammi Pithia gave an amazing performance with talented artists from the UK Debipriya, Vidya Patel and Jaina Modasia.

British singer-songwriter Navin Kundra and his band The515Crew performed in 2016 for the first time in the Oude Luxor Theater in Rotterdam. This concert was supported by female vocalists from The Netherlands: Anushree Joshi and Sangeeta Bhageloe. It was an unforgettable musical evening with the best Bollywood classics of the 60’s and 70’s and a tribute to the first Indian superstar Rajesh Khanna.
