Alluring Bansuri Recital by Pandit Rupak Kulkarni and Shri Ojas Adhiya

We ended our concert season of 2018 with a very special concert dedicated to Annapurna Devi and her Maihar Gharana. Pandit Rupak Kulkarni and Ojas Yogesh Adhiya (tabla) performed on the 23rd of October in Podium Grounds, Rotterdam.

Pandit Rupak Kulkarni who is a student of the well renowned Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, honored the tradition of Ma Annapurna Devi in a concert where the audience was both impressed by the talent that this Gharana has produced while also being filled with jou and peace.

This concert was organized in collaboration with Darbar Festival (special thanks to Sandeep Virdee) and  Rasique music school.

This was one of the best classical concerts of this year.

This most promising Indian classical concert features India’s finest musicians and two living legends Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. The two phenomenal icons of Hindustani classical music will be sharing the stage in the Netherlands for the first time together.

Chaurasia is known for his enchanting folk instrument bansuri (bamboo flute) and Sharma is the master of the string instrument santoor (a melodic string instrument with Persian lineage). Fifty years ago they made one of the great fusion albums “Call of the Valley” (1967). To see the two maestro’s live together time will be a magical experience.

Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia: In Search of Love, Peace and Harmony

On the 27th of May 2016, a very special concert was held in De Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague. After a short introduction by the host Vipin Moharir, everybody greeted Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia to the stage with a standing ovation. Pandit-ji blessed a sold out concert hall with his mesmerising bansuri skills. For most of our guests, the blissful 90 minutes passed too quickly. Pandit-ji finished his performance and received a standing ovation while receiving his flowers by the founder of DesiYUP, Mahesvari Autar. The audience had a chance to meet and greet with Pandit-ji and get a signed cd and take a picture.
