On October 7th, Radio SKSfm host Aartie Badal interviewed DesiYUP founder Mahesvari Autar and Hindustani classical vocalist Sangeeta Bhageloe. In a very colourful setting they spoke about the upcoming concert, Creation of Something Meaningful, with Shammi Pithia on the 24th of October. And they also spoke about their perspective on local musicians and music as an art-form.

First Sangeeta talked about her love for singing. Then Mahesvari explained what motivated her to start promoting talented artists like Sangeeta and organize concerts with artists like Shammi Pithia. The unique format of DesiYUP is what always thrills people. A great setting to enjoy a very special blend of artists making Indian crossover music and afterwards being able to cross-connect with not only the artists but with other visitors where everyone is treated like a VIP. Something very unique that DesiYUP introduced in The Netherlands.

Sangeeta also talked about her recent trip to England and how she recorded her most recent video Sajan More Ghar. Mahesvari mentioned that while at the Darbar Festival in England a few weeks ago, she visited 5 concerts in 2 days. She saw Nilandri Kumar, Nitin Sawhney, and met Anoushka Shankar and Ashanti Omkar media persona from BBC Asia.

Mahesvari expressed the need for Dutch local artists to create their own music in stead of copying and being dependant on Bollywood music. She also pointed out the beauty of artists when they support each other by going to each others concerts.

Shammi will be giving a master class on the 23rd of October to help local Dutch artists in their pursuit to create their own work.
