As the lights dim and the last echoes of laughter fade, I pause to reflect on the Eindeloos (Endless) India Festival. This was DesiYUP’s humble attempt to organize a second edition of this festival in Rotterdam. This festival, rich in tradition and creativity, brought together people from diverse backgrounds, united by the shared joy of cultural expression.
Honestly, I’m glad that we were able to pull it off, especially because since April this year I’m also active in politics, as an advisor for an Alderman in Rotterdam. And even though I have years of experience in having two full time jobs, this is truly something else… And between advising and organizing I also have to squeeze in my vibrant social life. You can imagine that a brief break is a good change after only moments of high peaks. So this Divali I only want to reflect back and enjoy what the Festival of Lights has to offer me and that is Arts & Literature in abundance. I’ve laid down options for you to pick!
Especially for all DesiYUP members I’ve recorded this Divali video to thank you all for your relentless support:
Divali Children’s book

Key highlight includes the release of a new Divali children’s book which has been translated into Dutch by me. It’s a fun and interactive book for kids, making them even more excited to celebrate Divali and giving them the understanding behind the Hindu festival, which signifies the triumph of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. To make this festive season more interactive it would be great if you could share your Divali story with us, here is a list that you can choose from:

Featured in Indyana Magazine
Adding to the festival’s triumph was its feature in the special women’s issue of Indyana Magazine.
I’m grateful to be highlighted in the special Durga Puja edition, where I shared my journey with up’s and down’s as an entrepreneur in the Arts & Culture sector. Music has always been my guiding light, inspiring me to innovate and create meaningful connections. I firmly believe in the transformative power of the arts to uplift communities. Thank you for supporting women’s contributions to this vibrant field! And thank you, Indyana Magazine, Satarupa Bose Roy, for this incredible honor!

My mantra: Arts & Culture Connects People

Arts and culture play a crucial role in building vibrant, resilient communities. They foster understanding and appreciation of different traditions and perspectives, bringing people together in a shared experience. DesiYUP as a platform exemplifies this by providing a stage where creativity and cultural expression can thrive. Without your support as an audience it would not be possible to continue to champion cultural initiatives and support artists in their endeavors. You can play a much bigger role as a member of our community by promoting our activities within your own communities. We all have a tight circle of friends and family and you can start by sharing our content with them. Let them hear how melodic the sound was when Gayatri sang a Abida Praveen ghazal or how inspiring Seema Anand talk was. You help us by voicing these stories in your circles. And together we can preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of Indian for future generations.
Wishing you and your loved ones a prosperous Divali!
Only love,
Mahesvari
