DesiYUP founder and documentary filmmaker Mahesvari Autar spent two days with Sheela last December 2024 at her nursing home facility ‘Matrusaden’ in Basel, Switzerland. With no script or structured questions, Mahesvari embarked on an interview adventure, unsure of what to expect. Over two days, she captured more than four hours of interview footage, which has now been condensed into a 40-minute portrait documentary.

The goal was to discover the woman behind the headlines, without prejudice. Mahesvari believes that women, in particular successful women, are quickly labeled as either good or bad. But what about the underlying motivations that drive someone to make a decision?
